סטודיו חנוך פיבן – Hanoch Piven

What We Are Made of - with Hanoch Piven

In an initial lecture, artist Hanoch Piven shows us new ways of observing the mundane world, teaches us his famous method of creating-with-everyday objects, and opens a space which allows us to be playful and expressive without the heavy feelings of self consciousness.
In addition Piven illuminates through examples of his portraits, diverse sides of Israel’s history and contemporary culture.
Piven also shares some of the creations made in the workshops him and his Studio team conducted, following the Oct 7th attacks, with surviving and displaced communities throughout Israel, exemplifying how art can be a powerful language to process trauma and express feelings and values.
The opening presentation is followed by a hands-on creative activity which can be geared for any age and done individually or in groups. A workshop is tailored to the specific needs of the school or organization requiring it. Here are some examples of popular themes.

• Exploring Identity: Our identity is composed of different values, experiences, and emotions and the conjunction/collage of these construct the individual we are. Therefore a collage with objects is an ideal tool to deal with the question: “What are we made of?” and compose our identity. (This workshop is a favorite with Jewish organizations around the world.) • Israel and us – Our journey since Oct 7th. The workshop opens a safe space to reflect on Israel’s place in the life of the members of the community as as diaspora Jews – and specifically – dealing with the complexities following Oct 7th attacks and the current war.

• Leadership Workshop: In this workshop the participants reflect on their leadership style and create a self portrait of themselves as leaders. This workshop is geared at educators and mid level managers in leadership courses. • Developing Creativity and Innovation: The classic most popular workshop which works anywhere and anytime. Playing with ‘found objects’ is a window to free association in a non-judgmental environment, stimulating reflection on the essence of creativity. • Ice Breaking and Team Bonding: A great way to open a delegation trip where the participants do not know each other. The objects allow for new ways of presenting ourselves and new ways to relate to each other. In addition, as a ‘smart fun’ activity it allows for team bonding.

• The Israeli/Jewish/Biblical hero: Following on the steps of Piven’s books about Biblical heroes (Dream Big, Laugh Often and More Great Advice from The Bible) participants are invited to create the Biblical (or Jewish/Israeli) figure they identify with and are inspired by.
